A Parish Mentality
My question for discussion here is, what resources, training, etc., do you give your congregation to help in the area of outreach? How are you meeting the needs of your neighbors (spiritually, physically, and beyond)? Is it something we should even be concerned with?
Full disclosure: I work for TheCommon.org. I'm also a ministry guy with a passion to see churches growing and reaching their communities. I am here to personally and professionally learn and grow--not just promote a product.
We have a 5-year discipleship program (growth group/small group) that we try to take every member of the church through. In year 3 we do "the contagious Christian" series for 6 weeks and try to imbed the process of outreach to personal networks as much as possible as an ongoing outreach process. I would be open to meeting face-to-face to discuss more so we can earn from each other.
